Communication Volunteer/Intern

The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) has been actively involved in humanitarian endeavors in Jordan since 2012. With a strong presence in the country, LWF Jordan has effectively implemented programs in three programatic areas: Economic Empowerment, Quality Services (Education), and Protection & Social Cohesion. These initiatives aim to support vulnerable groups, including Jordanians, Syrians, and refugees of various nationalities residing in Jordan. LWF has strategically positioned itself within the communities it serves by establishing multiple community centers in the Zarqa and Irbid Governorates, as well as in Mafraq, notably within the Za’atari Camp.

Purpose:

The communication volunteer will support LWF country program, in all areas of communication support. The communication volunteer’s direct supervisor will be the fundraising, Grants and partnerships manager. The position is based in Amman, with visits to Zarqa, Irbid and the Za’atari camp.

Main duties shall include the following:

  • To write excellent social media posts.
  • To support in interviewing and writing success stories /case studies of beneficiaries.
  • To produce powerful images and visuals. This material will be submitted for publication on the LWF Jordan social media and to share with some stakeholders.
  • To conduct in collaboration with the programs team the projects’ communication plans.
  • To support LWF Jordan Country Program to produce promotional materials.
  • To develop and standardize visual identities for internal use, such as banners, stickers, PowerPoint presentations, posters, etc.
  • To maintain effective filing/archiving of communication materials (including a photo and video archive).
  • To update and maintain the LWF country program on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • To technically support partners in producing better-quality videos, posts, stories, and photos.
  • To support in producing the country program’s visibility items, publications, videos, etc.
  • To ensure accurate and attractive data presentations and assist in preparing briefing kits and presentations for missions and visitors, as well as in providing visibility for donors’ contributions to LWF.
  • To follow the LWF and donor standards for visibility
  • To Keep donor addresses and logos updated.
  • To support training workshops on feature writing for concerned project staff
  • To Develop and standardize visual identities for internal use, such as logo, banners, stickers, PowerPoint presentations, posters, etc.
  • To Visit project areas regularly or as requested by project staff to learn more about project implementation and challenges and support in photography, videos, and interviews.
  • To Follow up on the printing quality of all publications.
  • To maintain photo archives and share them with project staff for their reference or other purpose.

Qualifications and experience

  • Degree in Communications, graphic design, or other related fields.
  • Knowledge of the humanitarian and development sector.
  • Excellent English language proficiency.
  • Excellent writing skills in English. Ability to develop compelling success stories/ case studies.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer literacy, especially in Adobe software products and video editing software.
  • Ability to work independently and, at times, with little supervision.
  • Flexibility, patience, and ability to work under pressure and with very tight deadlines.
  • Ability to travel in the country at short notice.
