In November, 8,317 refugees and migrants arrived in Italy by sea. Most originated from Bangladesh, the Syrian Arab Republic, Egypt and Pakistan. 18% were children. Additional arrivals reached Italy via land and air.
On World Children’s Day,
UNHCR Representative in Italy, the Holy See and San Marino recalled that the protection of children, especially those who arrive in Italy unaccompanied, must remain an absolute priority.
On 15-16 November, the Director of UNHCR’s Regional Office for Europe visited Turin, engaging with various authorities and partners, notably to discuss integration initiatives and durable solutions.
