We are PEAS Zambia. We are a fast-growing charity with a mission to ‘expand access to sustainably delivered quality secondary education across Africa’. We run the fastest growing network of sustainably financed secondary schools in Africa.

We believe that every child matters. we are passionate about delivering quality education at a low cost, so that we are able to educate the poorest rural communities in Zambia and replicate our model across other communities. We work closely with the Zambian Ministry of General Education (MOGE) helping to achieve their national goals, and have partnered with the MOGE to build an exemplary network of secondary schools in Zambia.

The opportunity

This is an exciting period of growth for PEAS Zambia as we launch our new strategy, Growing PEAS Schools. Supporting All Schools. This is our strategy of growth, it is ambitious, it is exciting, and it will be challenging.

As Country Director, you will lead PEAS Zambia to deliver on its ambitious five-year strategy – including strengthening our girls’ education programming, growing the PEAS school network, and sharing PEAS’ approaches with government to positively impact all secondary schools in Zambia.

Backed by a strong team, you must be a leader that inspires those who work with you, bringing out the best in your team and treating every team member as an equal member of the PEAS Zambia community. You must know how to bring together different functions to be high performing, delivering results and driving forward the PEAS Zambia strategy.

You will need to have experience of successfully managing a small-to-medium Country Office or large organisational department, with an interest in innovative education practices from outside Zambia and a track record of delivering complex programme objectives in a low resourced setting.

You will share our passion about expanding access to a quality secondary education, especially for girls. You will be driven by delivering a sustainable, cost-effective model that other education delivery partners can replicate. Above all, you will champion PEAS values and approach making sure that – as we grow – we remain true to who we are.

At PEAS, our leaders are to be ego-less, prepared to be both a great leader and a great do-er. This role will be challenging, so you must be resilient and adaptable. When something doesn’t improve or change immediately, you must remain energised and find ways to learn from mistakes, ensuring that we find a way forward in the end. For the right individual, this challenge will be exciting as you bring onboard your experience, skills and passion for education to make our ambitious strategy a reality.
