Environmental and Natural Resources Technical Specialists for Productive Ecosystems Activity (PEA)

Tetra Tech International Development (http://www.tetratech.com/intdev) is accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for several potential positions) in Environmental and Natural Resources Technical Specialists for the Productive Ecosystems Activity (PEA) project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Colombia. This five-year initiative will focus on nature-based solutions seeking to improve human well-being and biodiversity conservation by engaging key stakeholders, particularly the private sector, in the implementation of nature-based solutions that preserve ecosystems and ecosystem services.

These potential full-time positions are likely to be located in Colombia for the entire life of the project (a duration of five years is anticipated). For all positions, practical knowledge of English, experience working and managing multidisciplinary teams, availability to travel frequently to field sites, knowledge of MS Office applications, commitment to gender equity and social inclusion are required. Candidates with primary qualifications and experience in more than one of the following areas should indicate their interest in various positions in their cover letter. Private Sector Engagement Manager (PSE): We are looking for candidates who have a minimum of five years of proven experience working with private sector partners and investors, preferably in the natural resources sector. He/she will lead the design and implementation of project-backed interventions that promote private sector investment in nature-focused solutions. He/she will develop global, regional and national institutional relationships with the private sector and financial institutions and identify innovative financing mechanisms that incentivize private sector investors and leverage private sector capabilities to promote market-driven solutions. Proven experience facilitating public-private partnerships is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Business Administration, Finance, etc.) is required. Master’s degree preferably.

Payment for Environmental Services (PSA) Specialist: We are looking for candidates who have a minimum of five years of proven experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of PES schemes, carbon and biodiversity offset mechanisms and/or other environmental market schemes (for environmental services such as water); at least two years in the Andean páramos regions, Orinoquía and/or Caribbean. He/she will provide technical and managerial oversight in the development and implementation of PES and results-based mechanisms for the reduction of GHG emissions. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required. Master’s degree preferably.

Sustainable Solutions Specialist: We are looking for candidates who have a minimum of five years of proven experience in interacting with private sector partners and other stakeholders to support the development of sustainable business models for nature-based solutions and other economic opportunities focused on the environmentally sustainable market in Colombia. He/she will provide technical and managerial oversight to all project activities focused on strengthening sustainable nature-based value chains, and will regularly coordinate with other technical specialists. Experience in promoting nature-based solutions, sustainable value chains and work in Colombia’s PDET regions is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required. Master’s degree preferably.

Environmental Monitoring and Impact Specialist: We are looking for candidates who have a minimum of five years of proven experience working in environmental monitoring of biodiversity conservation and ecological processes in Colombia (including associated livelihood developments and value chains), with experience in PDET regions preferably. He/she will provide technical and managerial oversight and capacity building of counterparts in monitoring and evaluating biodiversity effectiveness, including the use of innovative and “cutting-edge” technologies to monitor species migration, gene flows, hydrology and others; as key ecological processes; deforestation and other land-use changes. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (biology, ecology, forestry, wildlife conservation, etc.) is required. Master’s degree preferably.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Specialist: We are looking for candidates who have a minimum of five years of work experience at MEL, preferably with a USAID-funded organization. Familiarity with performance monitoring systems. Desirable experience with databases, GIS and GPS applications. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject, Master’s degree preferably, is required. Familiarity with issues relating to land, natural resources, and MEL and USAID policies and reports.

Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist: We are looking for candidates who have a minimum of five years of proven experience in developing relationships with vulnerable populations in Colombia, including Afro-Colombians, indigenous peoples, youth, women and potentially Venezuelan migrants related to the management of natural resources, land and/or livelihood issues. Proven experience in addressing gender and social inclusion in outreach efforts. A bachelor’s degree in social sciences is required. Master’s degree preferably.

Nature-Based Solutions Communications and Marketing Specialist: We are looking for candidates who have a minimum of five years of work experience in developing and implementing communication and marketing strategies to increase the demand for sustainable nature-based solutions. Demonstrated experience working with local communication groups, community organizations and local businesses, and/or regional and national governments, using regular and alternative marketing channels (including social media and social media influencers). Familiarity with the use of print, radio and live presentation techniques is required. Familiarity with the issues of land, natural resources, and USAID’s “brand” policies. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject is required; Master’s degree preferably.
