Department

Program Operations (PrOps) – Pact exists to help create a world where those who are poor and marginalized exercise their voice, build their own solutions, and take ownership of their future. The Program Operations teams contribute to realizing this by: ensuring effective project management through supporting project startups, implementation, reporting and financial management as well as closeouts; portfolio coordination: providing a coordinating role across departments in DC that support country offices and programs; working with country teams to develop, refine and pursue their strategies by leveraging technical knowledge (our own and others) and supporting business development as needed; knowledge sharing and learning: enhancing communication between country offices and DC-based teams to ensure better understanding of the diverse operating environments and program approaches.

Position Overview

This internship is a learning opportunity for a professional interested in a career in international development. The Global Programs Operations Intern will provide day-to-day support for the two CSM-STAND global programs. The Intern will learn Pact’s program, operations, and knowledge management systems and interact daily with projects and DC-based departments. The intern will work closely with the Global Program Operations (PrOps), and the CSM-STAND Management Team in a one-team approach. This individual will report to the Deputy Director for Global Programs & Operations.

This internship is a learning opportunity for a professional interested in a career in international development, is paid with a schedule of up to 40 hours per week. This position will be tentatively from June 15 – September 30, 2022.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational, knowledge management, and administrative support to the two CSM-STAND programs (CSM-STAND Africa & MENA; and CSM-STAND LAC, Asia & Europe); coordinate timely and comprehensive responses to the project teams’ requests and needs
  • Follow up with relevant DC departments on requests from the CSM-STAND team
  • Assist in tracking donor deliverables, and review and edit donor reports
  • Maintain the knowledge management system of the CSM-STAND programs on SharePoint, OneDrive and Pact’s intranet, saving all relevant material to the designated location
  • Participate in CSM-STAND team and departmental meetings and initiatives
  • Assist in coordinating schedules and logistics for the CSM-STAND program team
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Basic Requirements

This position is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Experience studying or working on international development issues required. At least one course in social science research methods is strongly preferred. Experience with software for qualitative data analysis, meeting facilitation, graphic design, and/or bibliography development are a plus. Knowledge of the international democracy promotion sector and/or experience working with international NGOs is a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Development, International Relations, Regional Studies, Program Management or related field
  • At least six months of full-time work experience in an office environment
  • Self-starter and independent worker who can also work well as a team member
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written cross-cultural communication skills
  • Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks
  • Strong interest in international development
  • Fluency in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pursuing or recently completed Master’s degree in International Development, International Relations, Regional Studies, Program Management or related field
  • Experience in a developing country context strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting U.S. government grants, cooperative agreements, and/or contracts
