Position Overview
Reporting to the VP of Programs, the Senior Director of Training and Capacity Building will be responsible for developing and finalizing Trickle Up’s inventory of tools and mapping each tool to the program framework, articulating what specific technical assistance Trickle Up can provide to which specific partners, delivering training to partners, facilitating the use of existing work to create new and innovate programs, providing internal and external support for curriculum development and oversight, and training staff in India, Latin America, and East Africa on graduation and economic inclusion best practices and project management. This position will also provide support to the business development team in writing proposals. This job is a remote position, with a strong preference for candidates in the East Coast United States.
Principal Functions
- Technical Assistance & Capacity Building
- Develop new and adapt existing Trickle Up training products and curriculum for use with Trickle Up staff and external partners.
- Assess the needs of staff, partners, and project participants to develop/adapt curriculum and training programs that incorporate adult learning methodologies and address the specific needs of trainees.
- Provide in-country and remote technical expertise to lead organizational and technical capacity strengthening.
- Internally support and train staff on fundamentals of graduation and economic inclusion as well as project management.
- Externally, provide technical assistance to partners and train them on key components of graduation and economic inclusion.
- Ensure Trickle Up has up-to-date, adaptable, relevant, tools that can be deployed quickly and effectively for training and coaching.
- Update training curriculum as necessary.
- Support development and use of appropriate digital tools.
- Support field staff in reviewing and analyzing project data to course correct when necessary.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Livelihoods to ensure that livelihoods concepts are appropriately incorporated into training and technical assistance initiatives.
- Develop new and adapt existing Trickle Up training products and curriculum for use with Trickle Up staff and external partners.
- Business Development
- Support the development of concept notes and proposals with HQ, field teams, and business development.
- Identify potential funding partners and pursue resource mobilization for country and regional programming.
- Build and effectively manage relations with a diverse team of partners, multiple international consortiums, and non-consortium partners, at the global, regional, and local levels.
- M&E Management
- In coordination with the M&E director, help develop learning agendas for each project.
- Community of Practice: Contribute to strengthening the community of practice of agencies and institutions utilizing the Graduation Approach in diverse contexts; effectively disseminate good practices and lessons learned in the graduation approach.
- Representation
- Represent Trickle Up at national and international fora when relevant and appropriate.
- Liaise with in-country donors.
Qualifications
Education requirements
- MA in a relevant field (i.e., international development, humanitarian management, international affairs) with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience.
Language requirements
- Full professional fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish is strongly desired.
Experience requirements
- Must have experience implementing the graduation approach and/or economic inclusion programming.
- A minimum of 10 years experience in international development, economic and/or livelihood development, and experience in humanitarian response is strongly preferred.
- Experience with adult learning and curriculum development
- At least seven years of work experience with international NGOs.
- At least five years of experience living and working in a developing country on relevant issues (i.e., livelihoods, poverty alleviation).
- At least seven years of experience with program management including contract management, budgetary management, and reporting.
Preferred knowledge and skills
- Demonstrated experience developing training tools, methodologies, and techniques, including Training of Trainers and coaching techniques.
- Demonstrated experience providing TA through the project cycle for economic inclusion.
- Demonstrated experience presenting and training to multi-cultural audiences.
- Demonstrated experience in project design, including using results frameworks, log frames, theories of change, etc.
- Strong experience with livelihoods approaches for people living in extreme poverty, ideally with the Graduation Approach program design.
- Exceptional ability in written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Highly organized and analytical thinker.
- Proactive, creative problem-solver.
- Flexible and productive under pressure.

Salary and Benefits
We offer a salary between $92,000 – $116,000 commensurate with experience along with a generous benefits package including medical, dental, and vision, life insurance, professional development opportunities, access to other voluntary benefits, and a full vested 403B retirement plan as well as paid time off and paid federal holidays.
